Stephan is a lawyer turned banking executive. He joined the FirstRand Group in 2000 and has played a key role in building the Commercial and Corporate divisions. Currently, he serves as the Provincial Head for the Western and Eastern Cape provinces. Over the last 2 decades he has been very involved in the Group’s international expansion across Africa, the UK, Channel Islands, China and India. He also lived in Mumbai for a few years while establishing FirstRand Bank there. He is an entrepreneur at heart and have invested in businesses across various sectors, incl. manufacturing, entertainment, services and property development. He also serves on the boards of a number of NGO’s and loves mountain biking, water sports and travelling with his family.
