Jenny Crickmore-Thompson
Director, OSASA
A lifelong adventurer, Jenny Crickmore-Thompson has logged over 40,000 nautical miles on voyages spanning the UK, Caribbean, USA, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and the Baltic. Beyond the sea, she and her husband traversed 17 countries from the UK to South Africa in their Land Rover, covering 25,000 kms overland. In 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown, Jenny played a pivotal role in facilitating the safe entry of more than 80 international yachts stranded in the Indian Ocean into South Africa—an initiative that contributed vital economic support to coastal communities. This effort led to the founding of the Ocean Sailing Association of Southern Africa (OSASA), which serves as a liaison between the Department of Transport and the international cruising community. Over the past five years, OSASA has helped drive a significant increase in international yachts, rallies, and races rounding South Africa, earning widespread praise from visiting sailors and strengthening the country’s reputation as a premier sailing destination.
