James Cooks is the Lead Electrical Systems Designer for Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing, a well-established boatbuilding company in Cape Town. James grew up on the water on and around yachts and has accumulated thousands of nautical miles on various deliveries. Being around boats for so long has given James a deep and unique understanding of boats and a constant curiosity has kept him interested in all the technical aspects of modern yachts. Since 2007 James has been with Two Oceans Marine growing through the various roles initially from Deck Fitter, until finding his niche in the Electrical side. Learning not just the electrical side, but all aspects of boatbuilding and the admin required to run the electrical department of a constantly growing yard. After managing the electrical department and overseeing the design, procurement, installation and aftersales for the electrical systems of dozens of boats ranging from the Magnum, outboard driven fishing boat range, through to the custom 70-85ft Open Ocean range of power and sail cats, to the new NSRI fleet of Offshore Rescue Craft, as well as the Cape Town built Balance Catamarans, James has gained a wealth of production experience. James has now been promoted into the design office to focus more on future proofing and ensuring the electrical systems follow the latest rules and regulations right from the start. James also provides physical and remote aftersales support to all Two Oceans built vessels.
