Bertrand Hardy brings over three decades of experience in the marine industry to his role as Managing Director of Yacht Mauritius, which he operates alongside his son. A qualified mechanical engineer and certified yacht surveyor, Bertrand has built a career at the intersection of boat manufacturing,boat sales, marine tourism, and yacht management across the Indian Ocean. His extensive background includes founding and managing several successful marine ventures — from running a boat construction and repair yard to operating renowned charter companies such as Dream Yacht Mauritius and Croisières Australes. His hands-on experience spans yacht construction, boat sales, charter operations, and a wide range of marine services. With more than 60,000 nautical miles logged across the Indian Ocean, Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Pacific, Bertrand combines practical seamanship with a deep understanding of the needs of visiting yachts. His extensive cruising experience — from Mauritius to international waters — gives him unique insight into cruising routes, logistics, and destination requirements. As a former Chairman of the Sailing Committee at the Grand Baie Yacht Club and the current Director of Yacht Mauritius, Bertrand remains actively involved in the development of Mauritius's marine tourism sector. His expertise spans both technical services and hospitality, positioning him as a voice on how marine tourism can support coastal economic growth. At the African Boating Conference, Bertrand will share insights on developing sustainable marine tourism infrastructure and building value chains that benefit local communities while attracting international visitors.
